Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureB+
The Cowboys did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. For all the boxes ticked, the Cowboys skipped the loudest one: wide receiver is exactly as bare as it was. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will need West to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Arroyo at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The Cowboys paired the rookies with proven help, Alec Pierce leading the way. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
Nothing to complain about; Tyleik Williams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick76
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Quinshon Judkins for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80
Rnd3
Deone Walker
They paid sticker price for Deone Walker in pick No. 80, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at No. 90 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick97
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant at the 97th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick117
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in slot 117 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jonas Sanker
A tidy bit of business in pick 149, where Jonas Sanker graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick171
Rnd5
CJ West
They paid up for CJ West at the 171st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick174
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
Good price on Chase Lundt in pick No. 174, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick204
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
Tyler Cooper at the 204th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
A slide stopped in Round 6, Pick 35, with Jay Higgins worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris in slot 239 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick247
Rnd7
Shemar James
They did well to land Shemar James in pick 247, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
