Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Mendoza is the plan now, and the Raiders grade out a B+.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Fields pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In No. 2 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick16 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a two-high chess piece, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick36 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A reasonable price with a little left over, Caleb Banks in the 36th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. at pick No. 67 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick102 Rnd4 Malachi Fields
They barely believed it either: Malachi Fields still on the board at the 102nd overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick117 Rnd4 Xavier Scott
No drama and no debate, Xavier Scott went about where he belonged in pick 117. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick134 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Tacario Davis worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jaden Greathouse
Jaden Greathouse slipping to slot 174 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick182 Rnd6 Isaac Smith
They let Isaac Smith come to them and pounced at pick 182. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick185 Rnd6 Kevin Coleman Jr.
They read the board right and Kevin Coleman Jr. was the payoff at pick No. 185. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick219 Rnd7 Bud Clark
Bud Clark slid further than he should have, and the Round 7 slot is lovely value for the safety. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
