UKSeahawker DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
C+
ValueC-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The jury is out on the Seahawks. For now, C+. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Seahawks reached some 53 spots for Dylan Fairchild, and value like that does not grow back. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
On value alone, Jones Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill hitter at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Pick50
Rnd2
Dylan Fairchild
They talked themselves into Dylan Fairchild at No. 50, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick52
Rnd2
Tai Felton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tai Felton in the 52nd overall pick, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at pick No. 82 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick92
Rnd3
Kyle McCord
A wild overpay on Kyle McCord in pick 92, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in slot 137 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
They left a pile of value on the table to take Oronde Gadsden II this early at Round 5, Pick 34. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick175
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in slot 175 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick223
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at pick No. 223 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick234
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cam Jackson in the 234th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
