Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB FutureA-
The 49ers robbed the room for Abrams-Draine. Final grade: B.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kris Abrams-Draine fell into pick 124.

They will need Harrell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Darius Robinson
In pick No. 31 they get juice off the edge, even if it was a touch early.
Pick63 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro in Round 2, Pick 31 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94 Rnd3 Javon Foster
Javon Foster at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick124 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
Taking Kris Abrams-Draine in pick 124 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick131 Rnd4 Mason McCormick
The board had cheaper options than Mason McCormick at No. 131, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick176 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaylen Harrell in the 176th pick, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick211 Rnd6 Javontae Jean-Baptiste
A straight-up fair deal on Javontae Jean-Baptiste at slot 211, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215 Rnd6 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
They barely believed it either: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint still on the board at the 215th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick251 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Frank Gore Jr. at the 251st pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
