Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB FutureA
No fireworks, just a tidy B+ for the Bears.

The Bears treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 256th overall pick on Dontay Corleone a full 64 spots early.

Getting Revel Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Emery Jones Jr.
In the 17th pick they get a cornerstone up front, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at slot 52 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick53 Rnd2 Ollie Gordon II
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ollie Gordon II in Round 2, Pick 21. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick77 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
No edge and no loss on Quinshon Judkins in pick 77; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149 Rnd5 Shavon Revel Jr.
They will replay Shavon Revel Jr. at No. 149 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong at pick No. 224 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick231 Rnd7 Seth McLaughlin
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Seth McLaughlin. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
They paid up for Jack Kiser at No. 245 when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick256 Rnd7 Dontay Corleone
They talked themselves into Dontay Corleone at pick 256, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
