Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Cowboys won the night they stopped Sampson from sliding. Grade: B+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Dylan Sampson had no business being available in pick No. 150, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

The Burks pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Jalon Walker
In pick 19 they get the heartbeat of the defense, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to Round 2, Pick 12, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick51 Rnd2 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in pick No. 51 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick82 Rnd3 Deone Walker
A clean, defensible pick in slot 82 with a little surplus value in Deone Walker. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick118 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman at No. 118 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick150 Rnd5 Dylan Sampson
They will replay Dylan Sampson at the 150th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick169 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams in the 169th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick170 Rnd5 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
They left a pile of value on the table to take Davison Igbinosun this early at the 171st overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick190 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
A running back of that caliber at pick 190 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick209 Rnd6 Deion Burks
They reached a country mile for Deion Burks at Round 6, Pick 34, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
