Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B-. Start where it matters. The Bears took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
However the rest shakes out, Washington at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In pick No. 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick24
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In slot 24 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
They read the board right and Kiran Amegadjie was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 11. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jonah Elliss
No edge and no loss on Jonah Elliss in pick 87; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick122
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at the 122nd pick, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick216
Rnd6
Tahj Washington
Circle this one: Tahj Washington at No. 216 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
