ChiC DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears

FutureC+
The Bears cashed the board's mistake on Worthy: B+. The Bears did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Xavier Worthy fell into the 88th overall pick. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Every board in the league had Milton III lower, and that gap is the story.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean at No. 13 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick27
Rnd1
Kalen King
They went early on Kalen King in Round 1, Pick 27, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
The board fumbled Xavier Worthy all the way to the 88th pick, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick90
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Michael Hall Jr. at pick No. 90 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91
Rnd3
Spencer Rattler
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Spencer Rattler. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110
Rnd4
Gabriel Murphy
Taking Gabriel Murphy in the 110th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
They paid sticker price for Sataoa Laumea in slot 122, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick146
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
A reach for Joe Milton III in slot 146; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
