Quarterback settled, Ward in the fold, and a D for the Titans. There is reaching, and then there is Howard Cross III at the Round 6 slot. The Titans jumped the board by 43 and dared it to prove them wrong.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Cam Ward is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Golden falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In No. 1 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Pick33
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
Steal is underselling it; Matthew Golden at the 33rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick35
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 3 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick59
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Marcus Mbow at pick No. 59. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at slot 103 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick141
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
Value said wait; Kyle Williams in the 141st pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick178
Rnd6
Howard Cross III
A real head-scratcher, Howard Cross III in No. 178 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jason Marshall Jr. in the 208th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
