The Kamran James selection is the head-turner. The Commanders reached 65 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Spending an early pick on linebacker with offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
