Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Packers for Jones: B-.

Somebody in Round 7, Pick 26 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Sheridan Jones, the No. 221 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. If Melton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the 25th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock at the 41st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick57 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
They took T'Vondre Sweat at par in Round 2, Pick 25, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Nice patience on Cooper Beebe, who had no business lasting to No. 88. The roster fit checks out.
Pick91 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton in pick 91 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick135 Rnd4 Malik Washington
Malik Washington in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick203 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand is a better player than pick No. 203 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick217 Rnd6 Kenny Logan Jr.
A tidy little value on Kenny Logan Jr. in slot 217, a step better than break-even. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in pick No. 219 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick246 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
They will replay Sheridan Jones at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
