Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureB
A solid, sensible weekend for the Chargers: B.

The war room fell hard for Jermari Harris, and it showed at the 199th pick: 29 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland at the 42nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick55 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in slot 55 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick73 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah Bond at No. 73 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86 Rnd3 Ashton Gillotte
They liked Ashton Gillotte enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 22. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at pick 110 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick125 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Joshua Farmer in the 125th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick158 Rnd5 Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron at the Round 5 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick181 Rnd6 Jaydon Blue
Fair-plus on Jaydon Blue, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick199 Rnd6 Jermari Harris
They reached a country mile for Jermari Harris at Round 6, Pick 23, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jabbar Muhammad
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jabbar Muhammad in No. 209, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
A quiet steal in the 214th pick: Jay Higgins for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick256 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan in pick 256 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
