Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bills a B-.

The Bills spent real capital to be 50 picks early on JJ Pegues, and the board is going to hold them to it. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That Royals pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick No. 30 they get a load in the middle, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Darien Porter
Darien Porter in the 56th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick62 Rnd2 David Walker
They reached into another round for David Walker, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jalen Royals
Steal is underselling it; Jalen Royals at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick132 Rnd4 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at the 132nd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jaylen Reed
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaylen Reed. The roster fit checks out.
Pick170 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
Somehow Trevor Etienne was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 32, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick173 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in the 173rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick177 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
Good price on Ajani Cornelius in No. 177, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick206 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick No. 206 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
