Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B+
ValueA+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Chargers for Harris: B+.

Somebody in the 256th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chargers sat still while Tre Harris, the No. 60 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a three-down runner, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
They barely believed it either: Colston Loveland still on the board at No. 55. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick86 Rnd3 Armand Membou
They will replay Armand Membou at pick No. 86 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125 Rnd4 Walter Nolen
The board fumbled Walter Nolen all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick158 Rnd5 Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart in pick 158 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick181 Rnd6 Trey Amos
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 181 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick199 Rnd6 Kyle Kennard
Somehow Kyle Kennard was still sitting there in the 199th pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick209 Rnd6 T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders in the 209th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick214 Rnd6 David Walker
Taking David Walker in the 214th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick256 Rnd7 Tre Harris
Tre Harris at the 256th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
