The phones sank the Packers this weekend: D-.

The Packers went off the board in a big way for Rasheen Ali, 57 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Bishop pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still on the board.

However the rest shakes out, Rosemy-Jacksaint at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

In the 27th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick28 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In slot 28 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in Round 2, Pick 13 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick58 Rnd2 Junior Colson
Junior Colson at pick No. 58 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Hicks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick90 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at pick 90 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick91 Rnd3 Trey Benson
Trey Benson in No. 91 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots to take Cole Bishop, a safety that was not the priority.

Jarrian Jones is a better player than pick No. 150 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

Rasheen Ali at Round 6, Pick 27 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Jaylan Ford slipping to slot 219 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick245 Rnd7 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.

No drama and no debate, Tyler Owens went about where he belonged in slot 255. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
