Thirty-one other rooms let Cody Simon slide, and the Saints were the ones holding the card at the Round 7 slot. Highway robbery.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
