The Steelers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Of all the ways to open, the Steelers chose the head-scratcher, spending the 52nd overall pick on Jackson Powers-Johnson with interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots still wide open. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The Carson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Travis lower, and that gap is the story.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
