Aardvark DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
A
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureA+
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Elliss pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Adding Kendall Fuller by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In the 4th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick7
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In the 7th pick they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
No drama and no debate, Keon Coleman went about where he belonged in slot 36. The roster fit checks out.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jonah Elliss
They liked Jonah Elliss enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 7. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick68
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
