The Patriots lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story.

The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Malik Verdon, taking him 103 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.

That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
