The Cowboys did not so much draft Gabe Hall as overpay for him, 33 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with cornerback still staring back at them.
