Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Chiefs. There is a lot to like until you notice tight end is still a hole. The Chiefs never got to the one that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
David Bailey
David Bailey in pick No. 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick40
Rnd2
Elijah Sarratt
No edge and no loss on Elijah Sarratt in No. 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick74
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at pick 74 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick109
Rnd4
Caden Curry
Caden Curry at Round 4, Pick 9 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
No drama and no debate, Davison Igbinosun went about where he belonged in the 146th pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick176
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
Good price on Pat Coogan in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
