Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall C
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the Chiefs this weekend: C.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Chiefs did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. A mixed bag that lands at C.

Koziol falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Reaching for Igbinosun left real value on the table behind him. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

If Spencer Fano and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
Spencer Fano at the 9th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick40 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
They took Emmanuel Pregnon at par in No. 40, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jonah Coleman
Nothing to complain about; Jonah Coleman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick93 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at slot 93 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick109 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick146 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
They went early on Davison Igbinosun in Round 5, Pick 8, and the value did not follow. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick167 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol is a better player than the 167th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick176 Rnd5 Kaleb Proctor
Good price on Kaleb Proctor in pick 176, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Cole Payton
Cole Payton in pick 232 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
