Call it larceny. Zachariah Branch sat on the board until slot 146, and the Chiefs did not need to be asked twice.

They will need Zuhn III to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
