Where's Joe Thuney? DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs

FutureB-
The Chiefs bled value on every deal, hence the D+. The war room fell hard for Makhi Hughes, and it showed at the 176th overall pick: 36 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Kadyn Proctor
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at slot 45 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick76
Rnd3
Zion Young
The board had cheaper options than Zion Young at No. 76, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick81
Rnd3
Cayden Green
Cayden Green in Round 3, Pick 17 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
Somehow A.J. Haulcy was still sitting there in pick No. 89, and they pounced on premier safety value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick114
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
A premium they did not need to pay, Bryce Lance a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick153
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at the 153rd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick176
Rnd5
Makhi Hughes
They reached a country mile for Makhi Hughes at slot 176, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
