FutureB-
The Dolphins let Goosby fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Trevor Goosby tumbling to the Dolphins in No. 65 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. With edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on wide receiver is the choice that costs them. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They will need Lockett to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Cam Coleman
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cam Coleman at wide receiver with edge rusher open.
Pick34
Rnd2
Julian Sayin
Julian Sayin slid further than he should have, and pick No. 34 is lovely value for the quarterback. The roster fit checks out.
Pick65
Rnd3
Trevor Goosby
Trevor Goosby in pick 65 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick104
Rnd4
Raleek Brown
Raleek Brown in the 104th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jyaire Hill
Jyaire Hill in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
Pick154
Rnd5
Myles Graham
They robbed the room for Myles Graham here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick180
Rnd6
Horace Lockett
Horace Lockett at No. 180 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick247
Rnd7
Andrew Rappleyea
A tidy little value on Andrew Rappleyea in slot 247, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jordan Faison
Jordan Faison slipping to the 255th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
