FutureA+
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Dolphins a B+. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Bryce Foster at No. 112 is 143 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That Stowers pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick43
Rnd2
Gabe Jacas
Value said wait; Gabe Jacas in the 43rd pick says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
You do not let a tight end like Eli Stowers reach pick 75 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick87
Rnd3
Devin Moore
Devin Moore at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick90
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
The board had cheaper options than Nicholas Singleton at the 90th overall pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick91
Rnd3
Dametrious Crownover
Dametrious Crownover at pick No. 91 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick97
Rnd3
Isaiah World
They left a pile of value on the table to take Isaiah World this early at slot 97. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jalen Farmer
They talked themselves into Jalen Farmer at pick No. 111, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick112
Rnd4
Bryce Foster
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bryce Foster. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick118
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Michael Trigg in the 118th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick147
Rnd5
Drew Allar
A straight-up fair deal on Drew Allar at No. 147, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
They went early on Domani Jackson in slot 151, and the value did not follow. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick152
Rnd5
Marlin Klein
A conviction pick on Marlin Klein at pick 152 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick157
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
They jumped the gun on Ted Hurst, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick176
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Nwankpa. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick181
Rnd5
Febechi Nwaiwu
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Febechi Nwaiwu at Round 5, Pick 41. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick187
Rnd6
Jeff Caldwell
They reached into another round for Jeff Caldwell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick210
Rnd6
Charles Demmings
Charles Demmings in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick227
Rnd7
Nolan Rucci
Nolan Rucci at slot 227 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick238
Rnd7
Marvin Jones Jr.
Marvin Jones Jr. at the 238th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
