Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Dolphins a A-.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Dolphins were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

They banked enough surplus on Lew to cover a lot of smaller sins. If Caldwell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They will answer for taking cornerback early while edge rusher and running back went begging.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick47 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
By-the-book stuff, Caleb Tiernan at pick No. 47 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick62 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick63 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the 63rd overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick75 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers in pick 75 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick78 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 14 is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick87 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Somehow Connor Lew was still sitting there in the 87th pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick90 Rnd3 Devin Moore
A curious use of slot 90. Edge rusher and running back needed the pick; a cornerback in Devin Moore did not.
Pick112 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
A clean, defensible pick in No. 112 with a little surplus value in Michael Trigg. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick116 Rnd4 Justin Joly
Justin Joly in pick 116 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick119 Rnd4 Dametrious Crownover
Dametrious Crownover in slot 119 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick131 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
A slide stopped in the 131st overall pick, with Bryce Lance worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick151 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A tidy little value on Drew Allar in pick No. 151, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick158 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
They went early on Domani Jackson in the 158th pick, and the value did not follow. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick160 Rnd5 Marlin Klein
They paid a round early for Marlin Klein in Round 5, Pick 20, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick170 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
No drama and no debate, Ted Hurst went about where he belonged in No. 170. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick180 Rnd5 Taylen Green
They paid sticker price for Taylen Green in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick191 Rnd6 Jeff Caldwell
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jeff Caldwell in the 191st pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick197 Rnd6 Zxavian Harris
A wild overpay on Zxavian Harris in slot 197, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick201 Rnd6 VJ Payne
VJ Payne is a better player than No. 201 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick227 Rnd7 Charles Demmings
Charles Demmings at Round 7, Pick 11 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick238 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
The board had cheaper options than Bryce Foster at pick 238, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
Pick257 Rnd7 Joshua Braun
They reached a country mile for Joshua Braun at pick No. 257, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
