Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA-
The Dolphins fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

The Dolphins clearly saw something nobody else did in Eric Gentry, taking him 112 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick43 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
The board had cheaper options than Caleb Tiernan at No. 43, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Pick45 Rnd2 CJ Allen
They read the board right and CJ Allen was the payoff at slot 45. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick47 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Value with a capital V on Christen Miller in the 47th pick, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Somehow Emmanuel McNeil-Warren was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 5, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick79 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
A slide stopped in the 79th overall pick, with Keionte Scott worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick84 Rnd3 Devin Moore
No drama and no debate, Devin Moore went about where he belonged in pick 84. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick87 Rnd3 Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht in pick No. 87 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick95 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane at the 95th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
They did well to land Michael Trigg in pick 111, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick120 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. at No. 120 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick130 Rnd4 Eli Raridon
Nothing to complain about; Eli Raridon went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick131 Rnd4 Isaiah World
They paid sticker price for Isaiah World in Round 4, Pick 31, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick141 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Drew Allar in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick160 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Domani Jackson at the 160th overall pick. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick165 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
They paid up for Ted Hurst at the 165th pick when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick167 Rnd5 Taylen Green
This one needs a full-page explanation: Taylen Green in the 167th overall pick, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jeff Caldwell
They liked Jeff Caldwell enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 211. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick220 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nolan Rucci well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick227 Rnd7 Logan Taylor
They reached into another round for Logan Taylor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick238 Rnd7 Riley Mahlman
A big swing on Riley Mahlman at pick No. 238, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick243 Rnd7 Marvin Jones Jr.
Marvin Jones Jr. at Round 7, Pick 27 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick244 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
