Draft Grade — Dolphins

FutureA+
The Dolphins worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. The tape said wait; the Dolphins did not. Patrick Payton went at pick No. 110, a good 141 picks before the board was ready. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Clark pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at tight end and running back. They banked enough surplus on McNeil-Warren to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In pick 29 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks at the 43rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They will replay Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 75 for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick90
Rnd3
Tyreak Sapp
They talked themselves into Tyreak Sapp at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91
Rnd3
Mason Reiger
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Mason Reiger well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick110
Rnd4
Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at pick No. 110 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick111
Rnd4
Dametrious Crownover
Dametrious Crownover in pick No. 111 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick112
Rnd4
Isaiah World
Isaiah World at No. 112 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick118
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis slid further than he should have, and slot 118 is lovely value for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick128
Rnd4
Bud Clark
A want over a need in the Round 4 slot: Bud Clark adds a safety while tight end and running back keeps waiting.
Pick151
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Drew Allar in pick 151 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick152
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
No edge and no loss on Domani Jackson in the 152nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick160
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
Jalen Farmer at Round 5, Pick 20 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick205
Rnd6
Bryce Foster
They reached a country mile for Bryce Foster at the 205th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick226
Rnd7
Jeff Caldwell
Nothing to complain about; Jeff Caldwell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick227
Rnd7
Nolan Rucci
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nolan Rucci in No. 227, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick235
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
They reached into another round for Eric Gentry, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick238
Rnd7
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris at Round 7, Pick 22 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
