Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA-
Nobody dealt better than the Dolphins this weekend: B+.

The Dolphins spent real capital to be 37 picks early on Joshua Braun, and the board is going to hold them to it. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. On value alone, Hurst makes the weekend a net positive.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. With interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In pick 28 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Gabe Jacas
A real head-scratcher, Gabe Jacas in No. 43 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick49 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Anthony Hill Jr. worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick62 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick No. 62. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Keionte Scott at the 75th overall pick is the proof. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick94 Rnd3 Devin Moore
A curious use of the 94th pick. Interior defensive lineman needed the pick; a cornerback in Devin Moore did not.
Pick108 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
A clean, defensible pick in No. 108 with a little surplus value in Michael Trigg. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
No drama and no debate, Mike Washington Jr. went about where he belonged in pick No. 109. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick111 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
They paid a round early for Harold Perkins Jr. in slot 111, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick146 Rnd5 Drew Allar
By-the-book stuff, Drew Allar at Round 5, Pick 8 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick152 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
No edge and no loss on Domani Jackson in the 152nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick194 Rnd6 Ted Hurst
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell at pick 225 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227 Rnd7 Cole Payton
They jumped the gun on Cole Payton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick249 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
Nolan Rucci at the 249th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick251 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 251 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick252 Rnd7 Joshua Braun
Joshua Braun at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
