FutureA
The Dolphins fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Dolphins should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
They are betting World proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hurst. The Davis pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, running back and other spots still on the board.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In pick 20 they get a go-to option on the outside, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick47
Rnd2
Omar Cooper Jr.
They paid a round early for Omar Cooper Jr. in Round 2, Pick 15, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick49
Rnd2
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in the 49th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75
Rnd3
Devin Moore
They paid up for Devin Moore at slot 75 when waiting would have done the job. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick90
Rnd3
Sam Hecht
Good price on Sam Hecht in pick No. 90, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94
Rnd3
Tacario Davis
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Tacario Davis adds a cornerback while edge rusher, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick112
Rnd4
Isaiah World
Isaiah World at the 112th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick125
Rnd4
Drew Allar
Drew Allar in No. 125 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Beau Stephens
They liked Beau Stephens enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 30. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick149
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Domani Jackson. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick169
Rnd5
Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein at No. 169 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194
Rnd6
Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst in the 194th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick207
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris in pick 207 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick227
Rnd7
Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell at slot 227 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
