The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 48 spots for Riley Mahlman, and value like that does not grow back.

Caldwell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. It is not that Moore is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
