Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Dolphins won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

The war room fell hard for Drew Allar, and it showed at Round 2, Pick 27: 85 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Golday pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They will answer for taking cornerback early while linebacker went begging.

They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Chris Brazzell II and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick40 Rnd2 Chris Brazzell II
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Brazzell II at No. 40, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Drew Allar
A wild overpay on Drew Allar in pick 59, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick60 Rnd2 Eli Stowers
A tidy little value on Eli Stowers in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
They let Omar Cooper Jr. come to them and pounced at slot 74. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 11 is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick87 Rnd3 Devin Moore
Devin Moore at the 87th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Jake Golday at No. 90 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nicholas Singleton. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94 Rnd3 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick111 Rnd4 Justin Joly
A reasonable price with a little left over, Justin Joly in pick 111. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126 Rnd4 Isaiah World
The board had cheaper options than Isaiah World at Round 4, Pick 26, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick128 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Domani Jackson in the 128th overall pick leaves linebacker for later.
Pick149 Rnd5 Tacario Davis
Fair-plus on Tacario Davis, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick166 Rnd5 Marlin Klein
They paid sticker price for Marlin Klein in the 166th pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick220 Rnd7 Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick221 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
No edge and no loss on Jeff Caldwell in the 221st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick227 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster in Round 7, Pick 11 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
