FutureA+
Jackson should have been long gone. The Dolphins pounced, and earned a C. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Dolphins shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.
On value alone, Jackson makes the weekend a net positive. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Zuhn III lower, and that gap is the story.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick43
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Fair-plus on Caleb Banks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. at No. 75 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87
Rnd3
Devin Moore
Devin Moore in pick 87 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick91
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley slipping to Round 3, Pick 27 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick111
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Michael Trigg at the 111th overall pick is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick112
Rnd4
Justin Joly
Justin Joly at the 112th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick149
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Good price on Drew Allar in the 149th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick177
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
They will replay Domani Jackson at the 177th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick221
Rnd7
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris in No. 221 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227
Rnd7
Jeff Caldwell
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jeff Caldwell in pick No. 227. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick228
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Zuhn III in Round 7, Pick 12, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
