Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Dolphins fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Dolphins came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.

The Crownover pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Dolphins indulged a want in Moore while a need in edge rusher and linebacker stayed open. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Getting Allar where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, with Caleb Banks leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick47 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick49 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They let Emmanuel McNeil-Warren come to them and pounced at slot 49. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick60 Rnd2 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at the 60th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick79 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Value with a capital V on Keionte Scott in pick No. 79, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82 Rnd3 Devin Moore
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and linebacker to take Devin Moore, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick89 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in the 89th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
No edge and no loss on Nicholas Singleton in No. 90; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick95 Rnd3 Justin Joly
They jumped the gun on Justin Joly, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick111 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
They went early on Michael Trigg in No. 111, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113 Rnd4 Dametrious Crownover
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dametrious Crownover well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick149 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson at the 149th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick163 Rnd5 Drew Allar
They robbed the room for Drew Allar here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick168 Rnd5 Taylen Green
Taylen Green at Round 5, Pick 30 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
Fair-plus on Jeff Caldwell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
