Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
The Dolphins turned the phones into found money: A-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Demon Clowney at pick No. 227 is 108 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback and interior defensive lineman went begging.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.

Pick Analysis
Pick49 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. slid further than he should have, and slot 49 is lovely value for the linebacker. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jadarian Price
A running back of that caliber at the 75th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick87 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Steal is underselling it; Keionte Scott at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick89 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Malik Muhammad while clear needs at quarterback and interior defensive lineman sat open.
Pick91 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
Value with a capital V on Zachariah Branch in pick 91, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jack Endries
A clean, defensible pick in No. 111 with a little surplus value in Jack Endries. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick126 Rnd4 Eli Raridon
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Eli Raridon. It fills a real need, too.
Pick129 Rnd4 Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens in Round 4, Pick 29 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick130 Rnd4 Kage Casey
Kage Casey at slot 130 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick150 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for DJ Campbell. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick161 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst slipping to the 161st overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174 Rnd5 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 174 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick215 Rnd6 Eric Gentry
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Eric Gentry well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick219 Rnd7 Kamran James
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kamran James this early at the 219th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick220 Rnd7 Keaten Wade
Keaten Wade at No. 220 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick227 Rnd7 Demon Clowney
A real head-scratcher, Demon Clowney in pick 227 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick228 Rnd7 Hykeem Williams
No edge and no loss on Hykeem Williams in pick No. 228; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jaylon Braxton
No drama and no debate, Jaylon Braxton went about where he belonged in the 251st pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
