NateFromKC DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 51 spots for Braylan Shelby, and value like that does not grow back. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Washington at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In pick No. 9 they get a bell-cow for the offense at fair value.
Pick40
Rnd2
Trevor Goosby
They went early on Trevor Goosby in the 40th pick, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick74
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington at the 74th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Adon Shuler
They read the board right and Adon Shuler was the payoff at No. 109. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick146
Rnd5
Michael Trigg
Nice patience on Michael Trigg, who had no business lasting to pick 146. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick176
Rnd5
Braylan Shelby
They reached into another round for Braylan Shelby, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
