Draft Grade — Buccaneers

A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Buccaneers get a C+. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Buccaneers did exactly that with Jacob Parrish in slot 84. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In slot 19 they get a No. 1 receiver, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Pick53
Rnd2
Azareye'h Thomas
By-the-book stuff, Azareye'h Thomas at pick No. 53 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick84
Rnd3
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in the 84th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121
Rnd4
Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo at No. 121 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick157
Rnd5
Elijah Roberts
A real head-scratcher, Elijah Roberts in the 157th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick235
Rnd7
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jamon Dumas-Johnson in pick 235, miles early. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
