CJinVic DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Seahawks. Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Seahawks to leave a draft. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Cooper Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Velling reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In pick No. 32 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick95
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
A slide stopped in slot 95, with Omar Cooper Jr. worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick169
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
A reasonable price with a little left over, Xavier Nwankpa in the 169th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jack Velling
Jack Velling at the 211th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick255
Rnd7
Fred Davis II
A premium they did not need to pay, Fred Davis II a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
