Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Commanders a A.

The real work happened on the phones. The Commanders fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Commanders paired the rookies with proven help, Derrick Henry leading the way.

In the end it comes back to Brock Bowers, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In the 9th pick they get a security blanket over the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
A clean, defensible pick in pick 40 with a little surplus value in Chris Braswell. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 3 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick94 Rnd3 Matt Goncalves
A premium they did not need to pay, Matt Goncalves a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102 Rnd4 Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland in No. 102 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick141 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams at Round 5, Pick 5 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick181 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
A reach for De'Corian Clark in the 181st overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick223 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
A slide stopped in slot 223, with Sheridan Jones worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
