Draft Grade — Bears
Overall F
ValueC NeedB- TradesF FutureF
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Dial: F.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bears spent the 165th pick on Christian Jones, a name most had 45 spots down the list. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Landing Dial that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

It is not that Sinnott is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with quarterback still staring back at them.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a mismatch in the passing game. More want than need.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the 9th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In No. 27 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
A real head-scratcher, Cooper Beebe in slot 35 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick36 Rnd2 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at No. 36 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick40 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
A swing that ignored the value entirely, T'Vondre Sweat well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro in pick No. 62 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick71 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
No edge and no loss on Johnny Wilson in the 71st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
They paid sticker price for Christian Haynes in slot 75, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick93 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Leonard Taylor III. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick97 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in Round 3, Pick 34 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick101 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in the 101st overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
They talked themselves into Luke McCaffrey at the 102nd pick, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick103 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Ben Sinnott at tight end with quarterback open.
Pick108 Rnd4 Tykee Smith
A slide stopped in No. 108, with Tykee Smith worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick111 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
A reach on Tommy Eichenberg in the 111th overall pick; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick123 Rnd4 Edefuan Ulofoshio
They reached into another round for Edefuan Ulofoshio, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick141 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
They reached a country mile for Braelon Allen at pick No. 141, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jaylan Ford
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylan Ford this early at slot 143. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick165 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick180 Rnd6 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at pick 180 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick248 Rnd7 Marcellas Dial
Steal is underselling it; Marcellas Dial at the 248th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
