Draft Grade — Bears

Larceny in the 214th overall pick lands the Bears a B+, Devonshire and all. The Bears spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: M.J. Devonshire, the No. 182 name on the board, in pick 214. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Eboigbe pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Bishop pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman and linebacker still on the board.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick No. 9 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Brian Thomas Jr.
They read the board right and Brian Thomas Jr. was the payoff at slot 33. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
They paid sticker price for Kamren Kinchens in No. 75, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick109
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman and linebacker still to address, they spent the 109th pick on Cole Bishop, a safety they were not short of.
Pick114
Rnd4
Javon Foster
They took Javon Foster at par in Round 4, Pick 14, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick121
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
They reached a country mile for Justin Eboigbe at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick141
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
A tidy bit of business in the 141st overall pick, where Ainias Smith graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148
Rnd5
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at pick 148 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick193
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
No drama and no debate, Joe Milton III went about where he belonged in the 193rd overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick208
Rnd6
Frank Gore Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Frank Gore Jr. at Round 6, Pick 33, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick214
Rnd6
M.J. Devonshire
The board fumbled M.J. Devonshire all the way to No. 214, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
