timchiro DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Seahawks, and a B- to prove it. It is a puzzling start. The Seahawks had quarterback, tight end and other spots to solve and reached instead for Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE, at the 81st overall pick. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If Gray pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In slot 25 they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
Graham Barton
Fair-plus on Graham Barton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick78
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Roman Wilson at No. 78, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick81
Rnd3
Cade Stover
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE and leaves quarterback, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick119
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
They paid a round early for Cedric Gray in the 119th overall pick, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick151
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malik Mustapha at pick No. 151. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
A reach for Jaylen Harrell in the 194th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick233
Rnd7
Blake Watson
A reach on Blake Watson in pick 233; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
