Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Jaguars spent pick No. 66 on Sedrick Van Pran, a name most had 24 spots down the list. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Jaguars had louder needs to answer first. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Smith to cover a lot of smaller sins.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
