You can hear the double-takes from here. The 49ers took Patrick Payton at slot 161, roughly 38 spots before his name belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. However the rest shakes out, Joly at that price is a win they earned. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
