Fortune should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B. The rest of the league will want that one back. O'Donnell Fortune tumbling to the Packers in Round 5, Pick 21 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Grant left real value on the table behind him.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In slot 31 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
They paid sticker price for Alfred Collins in Round 2, Pick 22, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick62
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris in pick No. 62 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick87
Rnd3
Charles Grant
A conviction pick on Charles Grant at the 87th pick that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick95
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
Fair-plus on Chris Paul Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick160
Rnd5
O'Donnell Fortune
You do not let a cornerback like O'Donnell Fortune reach the 160th overall pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
