FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B. The Packers did not so much draft Trey Zuhn III as overpay for him, 51 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Pregnon steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick52
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Christen Miller at the Round 2 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick86
Rnd3
Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at pick 86 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick120
Rnd4
Malik Muhammad
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Malik Muhammad in Round 4, Pick 20, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick158
Rnd5
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at the 158th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick199
Rnd6
Dominic Zvada
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dominic Zvada. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick236
Rnd7
Roderick Kearney
A reach on Roderick Kearney in the 236th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick254
Rnd7
Will Kacmarek
A clean, defensible pick in the 254th overall pick with a little surplus value in Will Kacmarek. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick257
Rnd7
Jalil Farooq
Jalil Farooq in No. 257 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
