Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
The Packers won the night they stopped Lew from sliding. Grade: B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Connor Lew slide 31 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The Sorey Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick53
Rnd2
Dontay Corleone
Dontay Corleone at Round 2, Pick 21 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick87
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Value with a capital V on Julian Neal in the 87th overall pick, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99
Rnd3
Connor Lew
You do not let an offensive lineman like Connor Lew reach pick 99 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick120
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
Chris McClellan at the 120th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149
Rnd5
Treydan Stukes
Treydan Stukes at No. 149 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick158
Rnd5
Sam Roush
A straight-up fair deal on Sam Roush at pick No. 158, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick199
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at slot 199 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick236
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
They talked themselves into Rueben Owens II at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jalil Farooq
Jalil Farooq in the 254th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick257
Rnd7
Xavian Sorey Jr.
Xavian Sorey Jr. at Round 7, Pick 41 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
