Draft Grade — Giants
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Giants to a C+.

The Giants put a flag in the ground for Princewill Umanmielen, 83 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Tiernan at that price is a win they earned.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick 11 they get a two-high chess piece, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks at No. 37 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick45 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Nothing to complain about; Sonny Styles went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick90 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields is a better player than the 90th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick103 Rnd4 Caleb Tiernan
They read the board right and Caleb Tiernan was the payoff at pick No. 103. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick141 Rnd5 Jadarian Price
Good price on Jadarian Price in the 141st pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick186 Rnd6 Princewill Umanmielen
Princewill Umanmielen in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick193 Rnd6 Darius Taylor
A tidy bit of business in No. 193, where Darius Taylor graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick195 Rnd6 Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner slipping to the 195th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227 Rnd7 Drayk Bowen
A straight-up fair deal on Drayk Bowen at the 227th pick, value and slot in agreement. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
