Draft Grade — Titans
Overall
D-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB-
The Titans left with their quarterback, and a D- to match. The Titans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 188 on Cooper Mays a full 119 spots early. Put together, it is a D-.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Everything downstream of Cam Ward depends on Cam Ward, and the building knows it.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Mukuba at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In slot 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in pick 103 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick109
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
No edge and no loss on Cam Skattebo in Round 4, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jack Kiser
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jack Kiser well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
A big swing on Jonah Monheim at the 141st overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick167
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kyle Williams. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick178
Rnd6
Teddye Buchanan
A wild overpay on Teddye Buchanan in slot 178, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick188
Rnd6
Cooper Mays
Cooper Mays in No. 188 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
